Oomph Challenges

Signing up for the new Oomph Winter Challenge is a terrific motivator – I can feel the endorphins kicking in already. If you enjoy the gym but want to set new goals or gain more physical confidence then the Oomph Challenge is a great way to achieve them. Over the past 18 months Mike has developed Oomph into a highly enjoyable (true, it’s true) programme that matches physical demand with personal goal-setting and really valuable coaching support. The new focus of this Winter Challenge with targeted workouts with Raenee will continue that constant improvement – pretty much reflecting what you can get out of it yourself. The Saturday sessions are particularly cool, taking the group out of the gym and helping to realize you can do stuff you might have thought unlikely (rock-climbing, wire-walking, the joys of massive sand dunes … ). Challenge it is but it’s also fun if a bunch of bedraggled 151 punters laughing like hyenas is anything to go by. Peter Shand

“The Oomph challenge at 151 was fantastic. For years I have been cycling, running, etc. but only managed to maintain a weight rather than losing and/or toning. In the 10 weeks from the start of the preparation phase till weigh in I lost 5% body fat, lost 8cms off my waist, and put on 3kgs of body muscle. All this, plus great program, great fun, and certainly didn’t have to think too much about motivation. Mark me a definite for the next Oomph Challenge” Adrian Griffin

Thanks so much, Mike. I really appreciate all the work and passion that you've put into this programme. Without your commitment the road wouldn't have been anywhere near as enjoyable. I didn't once want to hit you, which is more than I can say for sessions with Dave....!I encourage anyone to give the challenge a go; with a bit of motivation and a heap of willpower you can get amazing results. I look forward to the next one!            Sharyn Taunt

I participated in this year ARC as I wanted to improve my overall leg strength, increase fitness, and lose fat while retaining muscle.  At the end of this process I have achieved all three goals and am able to fit into clothes that I have not been able to wear for more than two years.  I got a good deal out of the programme both in terms of my physical health but also in terms of my mental health as I enjoyed the challenge of making myself work harder than I normally would with a very clear goal in mind. Although I commute for work I really enjoyed the opportunity to exercise with other people as made me work harder than I otherwise would.        Carol Thompson

If someone had told me 6 months ago that I would be writing a testimonial for fitness challenge at a gym I would have laughed and said "not this guy", Up until 17 August this year i was smoking 20+ per day and had been for 25 years. On the 17 August I stopped smoking and on the next day started at 151.   After a couple of weeks a colleague and fellow 151er said '"You should do the Accelerated Results Challenge". Yeah right! here I was barely having stopped smoking and here she was suggesting I should do a high intensity programme for 6 weeks. I was wondering whether it was her way of ensuring I had a heart attack. Foolishly (or so I thought at the time) i agreed, thinking "hey I can always pull out if it gets too hard". Well as you and I both know I have done it and would have to say I'm pretty happy with results... so happy I want to do it all again in Feb?March.  I can absolutely recommend the program. The focus it brings to training, the fun of completing circuits with other participants, the challenge of pushing yourself to and past a point you can't believe is possible  and Mike's (and all the 151 team's) continuing unquestioning support has been nothing less that fantastic not to mention the support of the other participants. Not only has my body changed for the better but my mental toughness and general outlook on life has changed in a positive way as well.. The down side is I think I am becoming a gym junkie.
So thanks Mike and sign me up for the next one!. I can't wait!   David Quinn
