A lovely 27 degrees this morning! Come on in!
Friday 11 Nov 1441 hrs
29.5 degrees.  Where is a cold day when you need one!  It looks like we'll have to keep the hot water off all night. Will review first thing in the morning but expect a possible cool pool, possibly.

Anyone for a big spa! Our apologies but the pool has climbed to 32 degrees over night!! We are reducing the temperature as quickly as possible.  At this temperature, it will be quite uncomfortable to perform hard laps; nice for slow swimming that's about it. Should take until about late morning early lunch to drop 3-4 degrees

28 degrees
Thursday 10 Nov 0937 hrs
Pool dropped to 28 degrees now.  About 27.5 is ideal for winter for us. Will keep you posted if temperature varies more
Thursday 10 Nov 0614 hrs
Pool now 29 degrees! A little too warm as we left the thermostat up slightly to ensure it warmed over night adequately.  Will be adjusting today to get back to optimum temperature.
Wednesday 09 Nov 1743 hrs
Pool is heating up again. If no further issues, should be back to normal by lunchtime tomorrow. Not a building heating problem, possibly just a faulty automatic valve that controls the flow of hot water into the pool. Still 24 degrees at this time
Wednesday 09 Nov 1447 hrs
I have just been informed that our pool is cooling! Currenlty 24 degrees Arghhh!  I have placed an urgent request with our building managers to send a technician out to assess and rectify the problem. Many apologies for this inconvinience, regards, Mike Baker, Director 151

Congratulations to our Dave and also to Brad Burnett (a 151 pool user) for both placing in the top 50 in the world for their age groups in the recent 2011 Henderson ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Champs in Las Vegas recently. The poor participants had to overcome the major mental hurdle of having the entire swim section withdrawn due to water quality issues. Real shame. We're really proud of you guys!  At least now it's holiday time in the wild city og Las Vegas - have fun :)

Latest news from Dave only hours out from his race

Hi everyone,

Just a final update to the race prep over here in LV.

We have been luck to have fine weather and good temps for the last 5 days..... but today the weather has decided to turn on us. Luckly my coach has taken no prisoners over the NZ winter, and we have had plenty of bad weather training.
Forecast for tomorrow is about 15-16 degrees and 10mph winds.
Bike is all checked in, everything is layed out ready for the morning and dinner is booked for 6pm tonight.
The lake we swim in tomorrow is a lovely brown colour, great surroundings.
Bike is a good mix of hills, nothing to step and hard so far that I have seen, and the roads over here are super smooth.
Run is a lovely climb for half and down hills for the other half, no flat.

Again just a big thanks to all of you who have helped me get here! It is very much appreciated.

Will keep you updated after the race with a race report.

Parking sign for latest news
We are very pleased to announce that our work to reduce the parking rates has been successful!!

In addition to this, please note that as of today we have a new interim parking system in place due to the decision not to continue to use the pre paid card system until Wilson Parking install up to date hardware and software, which we have been told has just arrived in the country. See here to read more about the latest parking system change.
02 Nov 1210 hrs
For our members still to purchase their pre paid parking cards, please purchase your card from the gym reception, not the Wilson office on level 12 of our building, as we believe picking them up from the gym will save you time and hassle.  Thank you

Shin pain, hip pain, back pain, knee pain and foot pain are some of the things that you may be suffering from after a marathon. Our advice to you is don't wait for it to settle down by itself...it may not!
What starts as a mild tendon pain, if left untreated may become a chronic tendinosis and take months to resolve...So better be safe than sorry and get those little post marathon niggles checked out!

26 October 1031 Hours

Keep in mind that if you do elect to have a cold shower, the saunas are still operational, and these are a great place to dry off quickly and warm back up! Can easily exit within a minute or 2 before you start sweating.
26 October 1029 hours (Gas still on, for now....)
After further investigation into how we will DRY all towels at the club during the upcoming gas
stoppage,  which we usually do off site, we have NOT found any suitable laundry facilities that
use ELECTRICITY to launder the volume of towels we use each day.
For this reason we ask that once the gas runs out (this day and time is still unknown for SAP
Tower), that our members BRING IN THEIR OWN TOWELS to use in the gym and for drying
off after a COLD shower if taken.
There is a small chance that we may have enough towels to see us through, but will most
definitely run out quite quickly in reality.
We thank you for your patience during this time and hope like many others that the gas
company rectifies this problem asap
25 October 1907 hours
You may have read or heard in the media today/tonight of a serious problem with a main gas pipeline from the Maui gas field feeding North of Taranaki including Auckland.

To confirm, due to a leak in that pipeline, NOVA GAS will be closing the pipeline for possibly 2-3 days which will eventually affect many businesses including
151 Health Club.

How will this affect you as a member of the club?

We do not know for sure when our gas supply will cease feeding into the club.  We could lose the gas supply as early as tonight (Tuesday 25th of October) sometime for approximately “2 days”!  With no gas feeding into the building, the club will not be able to;

                1.            Heat the pool
                2.            Offer ANY hot water for showers
                3.            Or dry towels on site

As we will be laundering towels off site we will have in a place a system where 1 towel per member will be handed to you upon your arrival from reception if you elect to swim in a cold pool or have a cold shower! If we do not use this  system, we will not be able to keep up with supplying laundered towels over this time, even with using our emergency stock of towels.

So, quite a disruption, but manageable we believe.
As soon as we know more we will post another message here.
Thank you

Our friends at Stirling Sport Queen St would like 151 members to know that they have decided to drop their prices on RWC gear.

Now $149 for the standard All Black  jersey, $179 for the RWC version, that's $40 off both.

As we are sure you are well aware, the media on this has been massive, making it very hard on the retailers in NZ.

We thank Nick, Anton and his team for doing all they can within their commercial boundaries to offer these prices.

Please note this will be for a limited time only.
