AUT University, Finalist, Gym Instructor of the Year, 2011 Fitness Industry Awards
Active from the day this King Country girl was born, Raenee’s hunger for adventure and outdoor excitement has been relentless. She’s crammed a lot into her modest 22 years, gaining wide experience of the bush, rocks, horses, ropes and truly testing the upper limits of human endurance.
Unsure if Law and Psychology were a good fit, she abandoned Waihi and headed to New York after defending her 2004 bull riding title. Huh? That was pretty bazaar but this country girl found the American way of life even more bazaar. Unless you’re into scaling tall buildings, access to outdoor adventures in New York were hard to get to. However, the gym scene was far more to her liking and Raenee hasn’t looked back.
Raenee holds the title of officer in a local cadet’s branch and helps promote healthy eating to primary school children and their parents through her Tuesday night mini boot camps. She has also secured sponsorship and consequently, been able to co-found a charity due to be launched in November 2011. Its aim is to get youths outdoors and active.
Qualified as a personal trainer through Auckland University of Technology, her commitment to inspiring people to get active is outstanding. She’s always encouraging those around her to try new things; from running on a treadmill or trying resistance training to rock-climbing and bridge swings. Fancy kayaking around New Zealand in three months anyone?
